Program Grands Crus is a new initiative by choreographer Tony Tran that aims to build sustainable connections between artistic communities in Norway and Vietnam, fostering long-term cultural exchange. The programs initial schedule runs from 2026 to 2028 with the following objectives:

  1. To support local dance artists and choreographers in Vietnam, with a particular focus on the Nha Trang region.
  2. To encourage the development of artistic projects within a broader cultural ecosystem, supporting artists’ creative processes and professional growth.
  3. To facilitate meaningful cultural and knowledge exchange by sharing experiences, resources, and perspectives in ways that mutually benefits both regions.

Artists participating in the program will have opportunities to conduct research, produce new work, and engage in international exchange

Vietnam currently lacks sufficient infrastructure to support independent performing arts practitioners sufficiently. Program Grands Crus seeks to address this need by providing access to international production networks and resources beyond Vietnam. The program is grounded in the sharing of resources, knowledge, and opportunities from a more privileged cultural context to strengthen local artistic capacity.

The long-term goal, broader aim seeks to expand the program to encompass further Southeast Asian countries and partners in the region at large, as well as including more European nations and cultural hubs to facilitate exchange.
